Shipping policy

We want your gear to reach you quickly and in great condition so you can get cooking. This policy explains where we ship, what it costs, how long it takes, and what happens if something goes wrong. It works alongside our Returns & Refunds Policy and Terms of Service.

Quick summary

  • We ship New Zealand–wide, with collection and local delivery available around Kerikeri.
  • Orders are usually dispatched within 1–3 working days; delivery is typically 2–4 working days to the North Island and 3–5 working days to the South Island after dispatch.
  • Rural (RD) and heavy/bulky items (smokers, kamados, pizza ovens) may cost more and will take longer.
  • Damaged in transit or hasn't arrived? Tell us within 7 days at info@bbqboi.nz and we'll sort it.

1. Where we ship

We currently ship to addresses within New Zealand, including both the North and South Islands and rural (RD) addresses.

If you'd like an item shipped overseas, contact us at info@bbqboi.nz before ordering and we'll let you know if we can arrange it and at what cost.


2. Shipping costs

  • Shipping is calculated at checkout based on your delivery address, the size and weight of your order, and whether the address is rural.
  • Rural delivery (RD) addresses may incur an additional surcharge.
  • Heavy and bulky items — such as barbecues, smokers, kamados (including the Big Green Egg) and pizza ovens — may be shipped by freight and charged at a separate rate shown at checkout.

3. Order processing and dispatch

  • We aim to dispatch orders within 1–3 working days of payment being received.
  • Orders placed on weekends or public holidays are processed on the next working day.
  • During sales, peak seasons (such as the lead-up to Christmas and Father's Day) or for pre-order and special-order items, dispatch may take a little longer — we'll let you know if there's a delay.
  • We'll email you confirmation, and tracking details once your order is on its way.

4. Delivery timeframes

Once dispatched, estimated delivery times are:

Destination Estimated delivery (after dispatch)
North Island (urban) 2–3 working days
South Island (urban) 3–5 working days
Rural (RD) addresses Add 2–3 working days
Heavy / freight items 3–7 working days

These timeframes are estimates only and not guaranteed. Delivery can take longer due to courier volumes, weather, rural runs, or events outside our control. We'll always help you follow up a delayed delivery.


5. Tracking your order

When your order ships, we'll send you a tracking link by email so you can follow its progress. If your tracking hasn't updated or your order seems delayed, get in touch and we'll chase it up with the courier.


6. Rural deliveries

If you're on a rural delivery (RD) route, please make sure your address is entered correctly, including the RD number. Rural deliveries may attract a surcharge and usually take 2-3 extra working days.


7. Heavy, bulky and freight items

Larger items — barbecues, smokers, kamados and pizza ovens — are often sent by freight rather than standard courier:

  • Delivery is usually to your door or kerbside; the carrier may not carry items inside or upstairs.
  • Someone may need to be available to receive and check the delivery, and signature may be required.
  • Ceramic cookers (such as the Big Green Egg) are fragile — please inspect the packaging and item for transit damage before assembling or using it, and report any damage promptly (see Section 9).
  • Freight to some rural or remote areas may take longer or cost more; we'll contact you if any special arrangement is needed.

8. Collection and local delivery (Kerikeri)

  • Click & collect: you can choose to pick up your order from us in Kerikeri at checkout. We'll email you when it's ready — please bring your order confirmation and photo ID. [Pickup is by arrangement; collection hours: ____10-5 Monday to Friday, 10 - 2 Saturday________.]
  • Local delivery: we may offer local delivery around the Kerikeri / Far North area for eligible orders. Where available, this option will show at checkout.

9. Delivery problems

Damaged in transit: if your order arrives damaged, keep all packaging and contact us within 7 days at info@bbqboi.nz with photos. We'll arrange a replacement, repair or refund — see our Returns & Refunds Policy.

Didn't arrive: if tracking shows delivered but you haven't received it, or your order is significantly overdue, contact us and we'll investigate with the courier.

Wrong or incomplete order: let us know within 7 days and we'll put it right at no cost to you.

Incorrect address: please check your delivery details carefully. Re-delivery or redirection caused by an incorrect or incomplete address may incur an extra charge, and we can't be responsible for orders delivered to a wrong address you've provided.


10. Authority to leave

Couriers may leave parcels in a safe place if no one is home ("authority to leave"), depending on the carrier and item. Once an order has been delivered to the address you gave us — including where it's left in a safe place at the carrier's discretion — risk passes to you. Ownership of the goods remains with us until they're paid for in full (see our Terms of Service).


11. PO Boxes and public holidays

  • Some couriers and freight services can't deliver to PO Boxes — please provide a physical street address where possible.
  • No dispatch or delivery occurs on public holidays; allow extra time around holiday periods.
